Dear Academics,
Under the TÜBİTAK-Wiley 2026–2028 Open Access Agreement, an email announcement regarding the current status of the open access article quotas allocated for use in Gold and Hybrid journals in 2026 is provided below for your information.
Hybrid Journals:
The 2026 quota allocated for hybrid journals expired on 15 September 2026.
- Open access applications cannot be submitted for articles accepted between 15 September and 31 December 2026.
- To benefit from the agreement in hybrid journals, applications may be submitted following acceptance.
- For articles accepted in 2027, provided that the 2027 quota is available, an application may be made to benefit from the agreement once the post-acceptance author workflows have been completed.
- In order for the article’s acceptance date to be reflected in the system, the corresponding author must complete the licence signing procedures and the necessary author workflows following acceptance.
Gold / Full Open Access Journals:
We have previously announced that the 2026 publication quota allocated for Gold/Full Open Access journals was exhausted as of 12 August 2026.
- For articles for which an open access application has been submitted to TÜBİTAK in 2026 and which are currently ‘Under Review’, if they are accepted between 12 August and 31 December 2026, open access support under the agreement will not be provided as there is no quota for 2026. The article will be automatically directed to the “Author Pays” option.
- For articles for which an open access application was submitted to TÜBİTAK in 2026 and which are currently in the “Under Review” status, if they are accepted in 2027 and a quota is available, the post-acceptance author workflows can be completed to benefit from the agreement.
- If articles submitted to the journal in 2026 and currently in the “Under Review” status are accepted in 2027, an application may be made to benefit from the agreement once the post-acceptance author workflows have been completed.
- In the case of Gold/full open access journals, regardless of whether an open access application has been submitted to TÜBİTAK or not, the agreement may be utilised provided that a quota is available on the date the article is accepted and the post-acceptance author workflows are completed.
- In the case of Gold/full open access journals, submitting an open access application to TÜBİTAK and obtaining approval at the stage of submitting the article to the journal does not constitute a quota reservation; the approval granted by TÜBİTAK is a ‘conditional approval’. This means that the conditional approval becomes effective only if a quota is available on the date the article is accepted and the author workflows are completed.
